On the road finally. .

June 29th, 2008

So I insured the car for long weekend. . buttoned it all up. . And took it cruising. . Didn’t really fuck with the height (its not that low) but overall a good borderline height for street. You can drive it fast anywhere with miminal scraping and kinda not get pulled over for being too low. .Fuckin pics look like the car is super high. . NEEDS aero badly . . .but its tucking half tire front and rear. . It throws sparks over intersections when the exhaust scrapes. . Got a cat on it right now for Aircare. . Cleans up the super raunchy/loud straight pipe but robs like 50 hp. . Keeps it civil for the street. . Fuck without the cat its downright EVIL. . Swear i’ll get VI’ed in a day. .Pics dont do it justice.. Cant see the sparkleyness of the paint in pics. . At night it looks gold. . In the sun it blings like fuck.

Cruised downtown (Robson) on friday with Trent and his AE.. . Fun as shit. . ripping around like kids. . Two fuckin yellow sparkley loud assed hotrods cruising downtown. . even threw it sideways a few times. Now this is not such a good idea cuz cops there are LOOKING to pull over shit like this, but super fuckin cool, and you see retarded cars if you’re lucky. . We saw a Turbo NSX ripping it. . and a fuckin DOPEASSED M5 that was louder than fucking GOD, slammed with massive rims RIPPING it. .Oh man when the SMG shifts holy fuck is it ever cool the sound of that motor bouncing off the buildings at 9k then the interruptor as it shifts .. whoa. .

Went biking downtown again on Saturday and was shitting bricks when 2 motorbike cops were making a left onto the street that I was making a right onto WHILE waiting for pedestians, then I proceeded to roll UPHILL (load=LOUD) In front of them and get stopped at a light RIGHT beside them as I was waiting to turn right. They were totally scoping the car and I could hear them saying “his wheels are sticking out etc.” But surprisingly they didn’t pull me over and turns out they actually said “Nice car eh!” To by buddy that was rolling right behind me . . He wa like “Ya he just finished it” and fucked off right quick.

Car is Awesome with full interior.. its actually a NICE car. . not raw and fucked like the last one. . cant wait to put a system in it. . Im definately going for a different style with this car than the last one . . .More of a nice Street/Drift car like the Night Walkers/Magician type of blingin full interior car or any other JZ in this video http://youtube.com/watch?v=bn2UmH-UFW0 . . .rather than a Drift/POS like before . . . .And as a daily.. I like all the shit inside. . Cupholders, glovebox, carpet (spent 2 hours cleaning vacuuming it sat morning.) armrests. .

Anyways. Here are the pics..

class='alignhone' />

Here you can see what i did quickly to fill in the gap due to the JZX90 shifter location. .Its actually not bad. . and will be nice once I make and ACTUAL piece to blend it all in. . But you can see the location vs the supra one. . If you're tall I recommend this location. . Its THE SHIT if you got the seat way back and the wheel extended. . Falls perfectly into your hand when resting your arm on the console haha. . AND its further from the deck/ashtray.cupholders etc. so out of the way. .
You can also see all the front interior (dash etc) is finished in Black . . This is the SEM flexible coating Landau Black. . IF you want black interior, this is the shit. .You cant paint ANYTHING in your car with it. . parcel shelf/pillars/plastic/vinyl/carpet/velour etc. and IT LASTS AND doesn't scratch easily.

<img src=

Some night shots . . Took lots but the rest turned out worse than these (I know)

More Action pics and vids coming soon. .

The Story of SERIALNINE. . . PART 1.

June 24th, 2008

As most of you know SERIALNINE started out small. Just like everyone else building a driftcar or any other car for that matter, we had a budget, a SMALL one.. $6000 That was it. We figured, we could make the best of what was available to us, and only buy/use the bare minimum needed. So the plan was made, everything required to build a decent driftable Cressida had to be aquired for less than $6000 Canadian. Sounds easy right ? Read on.

There were certain requirements I had, since this car needed to get noticed, there had to be something about it that would catch people’s attention. It needed BIG fuckin rims. Now i’ve seen plenty of JZX81 driftcars in Dori-ten mags, and they all kindof look blah. . lackluster.. nothing special. . mismatched, equally lame wheels, usually 17’s, and boring looking not super low etc. I figured if I was gonna make any sort of impact, I needed dope rims. . .

Next, it was a GIVEN that the car would have a 1J. NEVER would I drive, let alone DRIFT a 7M cressida, NEVER. Why? you ask. . well IF you lived in japan, and were going to buy a JZX81, would you EVER not buy the TWIN TURBO GT version ? ? ? Of course not. . So I dont care if our cars came with crappy 7M motors. . Mine would have 1J power. Of course, the other reason is that the 1JZ is THE best sounding motor on the planet. Nothing sounds better than a psycho 1J. . Nope, not even a ridiculous 2J . . The 1J has this glorious, musical, wailing banshee sound that is unmatched even stock, get a big turbo on there and an open dump external wastegate. . UNMATCHED. .

So we needed a 1J, big cool rims, and the rest of the shit to build a driftcar. . Suspension!! This was something I was familiar with, doing custom suspension on various cars, the retrofit came easily after I studied the X8 suspension. Simply pick a reputable manufacturer’s dampers, build some pieces to fit it to a Cressida, and Voila!! the SERIALNINE/STANCE coilover kit was born. . The rest of the stuff was basically a bad story, starting from bad, and proceeding to worse. . lol. . Read on and find out.

I’ll simply do a breakdown of the rest of the car to quicken the story. .

CAR =$150 Found on Craigslist bought for $400 and sold the innards for $250 More on this later. (y’all are probably thinking WHOA SOO CHEAP!!)

Engine =$2800 A buddy of mine was wrecking a JZX90. I had driven the car many times and knew it was a good motor, had an ORC409D clutch, a decent tranny, and a few little doodads, like a downpipe and some intercooler piping, JZX90 stock fuel pump, cluster, wiring, etc.

Suspension =OVER $2000 I purchased a set of STANCE GR+ and proceeded to get a bunch of one-off prototype stuff made. We all know one off shit aint cheap. .

Wheels =$1500 Good old Yahoo Japan. . we got a set of Gulf DISH 18×9+18, 18×10+11 wheels in decent condition. Picked up another set as well to flip and help fund the project. . That went nowhere lol.

MISC. =$unknown Windshield was cracked (cant go to the track with a busted windshield) so there goes $200, Door was fucked and didn’t open, another $100, needed spacers for the front rims. . $100, NEW tires for the front rims. . $300 later, Aircare, seatbelts, paint, etc. . . and the list goes on. . and on. .

TIME = YOU DONT EVEN WANNA KNOW. . All i gotta say is START WITH A GOOD SHELL.. TIME IS MONEY. . whatever that may be worth to you. . My time is expensive to me. .

As you all can add up by now. . We were WELL over budget. . Anyways. . Here are some pics and vids of the beginning.

REVIEW OF SERIALNINE/STANCE COILS

May 26th, 2008

Ok, so these coilovers are fuckin awesome. Seriously. I used to have Cuscos (springrates 8/6) on my S13 before I sold it. It was pretty stiff but was very streetable, although too bumpy for some people (pussies). So I bought the GR+ Pro SS-D (12/10 springrates) and set the dampening to 7 (out of 15). Even with 215/35’s in the front, the ride quality is awesome. It is way less bumpy than my S13, but still quite stiff and handles very well. The handling was a concern for me when I first bought it, as I thought “A land-boat like the cressida can’t be competitive in driftin”, but I think I will be corrected very shortly (once my 5spd goes in, and I head to the track).

I recently drove the car to Whistler mountain. Considering the road was hella bumpy, I was suprised at how confident I was in the car taking corners at highway speeds. I was worried at first, that the MX83 would not compare to my old s13, but luckily, this car is showing just as much potential to be an all out drift monster. I feel that I will be very competitive this year in the local drift scene.

Buy SERIALNINE/STANCE coilovers from G. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with this purchase. If you want to be at all competitive in any genre of motorsports with your cressida, this is the ONLY option you have.
